Who accepts the Puerto Rico Medical Exam?

Recently both Washington State and Indiana changed their rules to exclude the Puerto Rico Medical Examination. This took affect May 2008 and April 2008 respectively. Now there is only one State which still accepts the Puerto Rico Medical Examination. That State is Missouri. This was confirmed on 07/15/08 during a conversation with the Missouri Medical Board's manager.

This was years ago, many doctors won the federal court case and other lost, now the test is given by a company( I think by the NBME) and less than 10% pass it, now is more difficult to pass this two test compared to the USMLE, I think they should reconsider accepting PR license again.

As of today, only 2 States accept the Puerto Rico State Medical License. The Missouri Medical Board and the Washington Medical Board. The Washington Medical Board will only accept the PR Medical License Examination if the physician took it before 11/01/1993. All FMG's have to hold an ECFMG or Fifth Pathway Certificate in order to apply to either Board.
